When the High School Musical movies were over a lot of fans were convinced that was the last time they would see what was going on in the lives of the characters they loved. However, they were given more opportunity to follow their favorite characters when High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was released. Through four seasons this series returned to high school and the development of well-loved characters, wrapping everything up with the closure that helped fans move on.
Broadway Experience and a Trusted Creator
When Tim Federle created High School Musical: The Musical: The Series he knew he could bring his valuable Broadway experience to the series. That made it easier for the cast and crew to handle the musical numbers properly, and gave stronger performances for fans to enjoy. Having experience at such a high level gave him valuable insight to share with others, so the series could progress, and the fans could enjoy it to the fullest. Having a trusted creator for a series can make all the difference in the end result, and he wanted to be sure fans got an end result they loved.
All the Way Through the 10-Year Reunion
The series follows the cast through their last years of high school and culminates in the 10-year reunion. By doing that, the creator of the show helps provide fans with a clear ending, so they know that the series is over and they aren’t stuck waiting to see if there will be more in the future. Some series end up being vague at the end, and it feels like it just stops. Some also leave cliffhangers, so they can pick back up later if they want to, but the goal with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was to solidify the ending and allow the cast and crew to move forward with other projects.
An Ending Fans Felt Good About
Tim Federle knows the value of a good series is created in a lot of different ways, including the kind of ending that series has. While it’s true that many fans would have preferred that the series continue, the next best thing they could receive was an ending they were satisfied with. Since the creator, crew, and cast knew the series would end, they made finding just the right ending the goal so they could keep fans as happy as possible.
No Further Plans for HSM Development
It’s only natural for fans to still want more High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, or a reboot, or another movie, but there aren’t any plans for further development. The characters are all well past high school now, and another series or movie based off of them or a new crop of high school singers isn’t in the works. Fans will have to be satisfied with the four great seasons of HSM: TM: TS they had, and they can rewatch them anytime on Disney+ to enjoy them again.
